The Big Wave
100 x 80 x 2 cm
A tribute to the morning tides that taught me freedom, and to the waves I still dream of riding again.
Acrylics on canvas, finished with a satin varnish.
In Vieux Boucau, the ocean taught me to let go.
I woke before dawn, biked through the cool air, and walked down the dunes with my surfboard as the tides called the day’s rhythm. Rain or shine, we chased the waves — feeling their crash, learning to swim with their wild pulse.
Out there, the world fell away. The sea was no longer something to fear, but a force to trust, to ride, to become part of. Surrounded by kindred spirits, each with their own story, I felt freer than ever before.
This painting carries that memory — the salt on my skin, the power beneath me, and the joy of surrendering to the water.
I dream of returning to that place, to those waves, and to the moment where the ocean and I first found harmony.
