Sunshine

80 x 120 x 5 cm

Acrylics on canvas, finished with a high-gloss varnish.

In Greece, the sun always seems to shine. Growing up, I can hardly remember a day without its golden light.

I once arrived in Athens in November, expecting a hint of winter chill. Instead, as I climbed the familiar path toward the Acropolis — a ritual I never skip, no matter how many times I’ve been there — the sun blazed down on me. With every step, I could feel its warmth seeping into my skin, filling me with energy.

At the top, the Parthenon shimmered in the light, its marble radiating so brilliantly that I wished for sunglasses. But what stayed with me wasn’t the discomfort — it was the glow. Everything was bathed in hues of orange, yellow, and gold, as though the city itself was aflame with light.

That brilliance, inseparable from Greece, is what this painting carries: the memory of a place where sunshine and beauty are one.
